As a traditional automaker, Ford surprises with the Mustang Mach-E. It took two years for Ford to create this SUV Mustang from scratch.
Ford introduced the Los Angeles Mustang SUV in Los Angeles: the Mach-E. It is the brand’s new electric SUV and is expected to hit the US market by the end of 2020, with either standard or long-range battery and rear-wheel or four-wheel drive options.
Interestingly, this is the first car without door handles. The vehicle has a discreet button in the column and a small metal arm that allows the door to open. Bluetooth identifies the car owner’s cell phone as he or she approaches the car and unlocks the doors.
The Mustang SUV allows the choice of two advanced lithium-ion batteries: standard autonomy (288-cell 75.7 kWh battery) or extended autonomy (376-cell 98.8 kWh battery), the latter capable of at least 480 km in EPA standard with rear-wheel drive.
Inside the car, we have the 15.5-inch center screen. It operates the fourth generation Sync system, which integrates with virtual assistants (Google Assistant, Siri, and Alexa) and is also able to learn from the user. The central can have three different users plus one registered guest. These profiles store about 100 settings, between preferences and customizations, and stays in the cloud.
The trunk has 402 liters capacity, and in the front, there is another compartment with up to 136 liters of capacity. It is fully sealed and has a drain, allowing it to be used even as a beverage cooler.
Deliveries of the first edition according to Ted Cannis, Ford’s global Electrification leader, begin in the last quarter of 2020 simultaneously in the US and Europe. The starting price will be $ 43,855. The GT is expected to start at $60,000 for the basic version and is expected to begin sales in the third quarter of 2021. Standard (75.7 kWh 288 cell) or long-range (98.8 kWh 376 cells) versions, with four-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive only.
In combination with rear-wheel drive and more extended autonomy, according to Ford, the Mach-E should drive up to 300 miles. In this configuration, the expected power is 336 hp.
