Volkswagen announced that following the reveal of the ID.4 on September 23, the reservation platform for the U.S. will be launched immediately. In order to secure a place in line, a fully refundable reservation deposit of $100 will be required.
The reservation platform will include a dealer selection to aid in helping shoppers find an ID.4 model. In addition to the dealer selection it will also include a range estimator and payment tool.
After the initial place holder of $100, the next step is the invitation to lock the configuration and confirm the order with an additional $400 deposit: ”From placing a reservation, to production and through delivery, the customer can see where they stand and when they can expect their ID. 4 to arrive at their preferred local VW dealer.”
The customer will then be able to negotiate with its dealer the final sales price to complete the purchase. Volkswagen plans on selling its ID.4 across 600 dealers nationwide with the first cars hitting dealer showrooms later this year.
