Alpine Electric SUV: Meet the PZ110 Project

Alpine

Alpine is a French sports car brand owned by Renault that ceased operations in 1995. However, a few years ago, the brand returned thanks to the second generation of the A110. A small two-seater called to rival models like the Porsche Cayman or the Lotus Elise, against which it offers a pleasing compromise between fun and usability thanks to its lightness.

Unanimously praised by the trade press, the A110 is just the first step in Renault’s ambitious plans for Alpine, which wants to make a rival premium brand from Porsche. Thus, after this “halo” model, other vehicles will come to the range of the Norman manufacturer, which will continue to bet on the lightness and sportiness that has always characterized the brand.

Alpine’s first model after the A110 will be a 100% electric SUV. Although the most purist fans have shouted in the sky knowing that the historic brand will bet on such a model. The goal is to be able to stand up to the future range of electric cars from Porsche, which will be quite extensive.

Known internally under the PZ110 code, the new model will sit on the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance CMF-EV electric modular platform. Allowing Alpine to reduce development costs and exponentially increase its profitability. The vehicle will be produced at the French Douai plant together with future Renault electric SUVs (one urban and one family) and will feature advancements as an evolved version of the 4Control four-wheel-drive system.

Nor can we rule out that it has Nissan’s intelligent E-4ORCE all-wheel-drive system (based on the technology of the off-road Patrol and the GT-R supercar), which will debut the Ariya. Its arrival on the market will occur between 2023 and 2024. However, for the moment, no schedule has been officially confirmed (Renault may give new details on May 29 during the presentation of its restructuring plans).
