Nissan Ariya SUV Brings Enthusiasm Along With its New Technologies

Nissan’s next electric car is the medium-sized Ariya SUV, bringing the CMF-EV modular platform of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. This architecture will feature an advanced all-wheel-drive system: named “e-4ORCE”, and this technology was already shown long ago in a prototype of the LEAF. However, taking advantage of the Las Vegas CES, the Japanese brand has now revealed some of its features specs.

The “e-4ORCE” system (pronounced as “e-FORCE”), will be based on the use of an electric motor per axle, a widespread solution among electric cars equipped with all-wheel drive (likewise, all Tesla Dual Motor use this architecture ). The big difference of the Nissan system will be the very advanced controls that will be associated with it.

The technology is based on the ATTESA E-TS torque distribution system of the Nissan GT-R supercar, as well as the intelligent 4×4 traction system of the Nissan Patrol. The objective is to ensure that the power management of electric motors allows high performance and superior stability, as well as improved ride comfort and smoothness.

Nissan says that the system optimizes comfort by minimizing the pitch of the car, something that can be achieved thanks to the use of regenerative braking of the front and rear engines. This can be noticeable in the city and on winding roads. Thanks to precise control on each wheel, the motor on any surface will be improved.

The CES L.A. was also used by Nissan to show more technologies that the new Ariya will incorporate: the ProPILOT 2.0 (which will allow automatic lane changes on the highway), connectivity solutions, etc. This ambitious model, which will compete among others like the Tesla Model Y and Volkswagen ID.4X, is configured as Nissan’s great hope for the decline in sales of the LEAF, one of its electric cars.
