Ford Partners Up With Amazon and Greenlots for Charging Solutions

Going beyond the creation of electric vehicles, Ford is now investing in charging solutions for houses. This will happen with the partnership of two other companies.

One of the most significant issues of switching to EVs is the fact that the assistance for the new vehicles is still not very well organized, and doesn’t have many options. Being aware of this concern, Ford will start helping the scenario. Ted Cannis, Ford director of global electrification, said:

“Among people who already own or want to purchase electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids, 48% say that a lack of charging stations is one of their main concerns. By offering industry-leading charging access, we are dismantling those barriers, allowing more customers to enjoy the benefits of owning an electric vehicle confidently.”

The carmaker will offer 12,000 public stations in North America and 35,000 charging plugs. Those charging stations will be called FordPass Charging Network. This is where the partnership with Greenlots enters. These are already places of existing stations.

Amazon enters when it comes to home charging stations.

Ford said that the new EVs will “come with a Ford Mobile Charger that can charge regardless of outlet power (120- and 240-volt outlets); for those with longer commutes or who want greater peace of mind, a Ford Connected Charge Station can fully power a vehicle overnight while they sleep. Ford is collaborating with Amazon in the U.S. for all your installation services — from 240V outlets to the Ford Connected Charge Station.” (via Electrek).

Also, the automaker will have a level ½ mobile charger that could be used at home with a 14-50 outlet.

Ford is coming up with a Mustang-inspired EV and an electric version of the F-150. These two models were not officially released yet.
