Rivian has confirmed today that the first deliveries of its R1T electric pick-up will take place in June 2021. Rivian also released the pick-ups starting price will be $67,500, lower than initially estimated (although still higher than Tesla rates. Cybertruck, whose access variant will cost $39,900 in the United States).
The model will initially be available in three versions: Explore (launch in January 2022, from $67,500), Adventure (launch in January 2022, from $ 5,000), and Launch Edition (launch in June 2021, from $75,000). The vehicle can now be reserved on the manufacturer’s page with a deposit of $1,000.
After these variants, which will have a range of more than 300 miles EPA, the range will be completed with more accessible versions and more expensive, albeit for the moment, their rates are unknown. Rivian promises that the batteries in its pick-up have been designed to operate in temperatures between -31ºC and 54ºC.
The brand claims that the R1T’s off-road capabilities will be very prominent; a semi-autonomous driving system will be offered as standard (called Rivian Driver +, this assistant will allow “hands-free” driving and can be improved over time through OTA updates).
The R1T will have four electric motors (one on each wheel), will do 0 to 60 miles per hour (0-96.6 km/h) in less than 3 seconds, and will be able to tow up to 4,990 kg. Its wading capacity will be 108.46 centimeters. Its frunk (front trunk) will cubic 311 liters.
