In new spy shots obtained by InsideEvs we see the first camouflaged prototype of the ID.6. Volkswagen revealed a study called the I.D. Roomzz concept at the 2019 Shanghai motor show with a preview for a production model called the ID.6. Now we are getting a glimpse of it on the road.
When looking at the prototype, other than size, it doesn’t seem like it will differ much from the ID.4. It will use the same MEB platform found in the ID.4 so It will house the same powertrains and battery packs. It almost looks like the ID.4 was stretched. It will be larger in size with seating for up to seven people in three different rows. Differing from the original I.D. Roomzz concept which had rear sliding doors, it appears that the prototype has conventional rear doors.
With the concept being revealed at the 2019 Shanghai motor show, it isn’t a shock that VW will most likely focus on the Chinese market. It will be built on the MEB platform and should be available with a rear-motor and rear-wheel drive, or with dual motors and all-wheel drive. The concept made 302 horsepower and had a range of 280 miles from an 82-kWh battery pack. We should see the ID.6 fully revealed sometime next year.
