Better Late than Never: Faraday Future to Start Selling EVs in 2022

Faraday Future has come to be considered a failed startup by many. The company, which proclaimed itself a rival to Tesla a few years ago, has gone through numerous financial setbacks, struggled with its workers and suppliers, and was even forced to sell some of its prototypes to get ahead.

However, everything seems to indicate that little by little; the tables are turning towards a more favorable situation for the American company. Recently it was learned that Faraday Future is negotiating a collaboration agreement with Geely, an alliance that will allow it to begin production of its first model, the FF91.

As a result of this partnership, the startup will begin to build a new factory in China in the short term with Geely’s collaboration. This factory will have a production capacity of about 100,000 units per year; Also; Faraday Future is also considering building a research center and these facilities.

While preliminary negotiations indicated that Geely would provide Faraday Future with contract manufacturing services and autonomous driving and connectivity technologies, the final terms are currently unknown. Despite everything, the latest news indicates that, for the moment, things seem to be on track.

Faraday Future has just announced that it has completed the second battery of winter tests with the pre-production FF91, conducted in Michigan with experts from the German supplier Bosch. Besides, the manufacturer has set itself to start sales of its first EV model at some time, not yet specified, in the first half of 2022.

Its IPO should allow it to finance this and other projects, including creating a more affordable model, the FF81. If the final FF91 maintains the specifications initially announced, we will find ourselves before a monstrous crossover with 1,068 hp of power, 130 kWh capacity batteries, and more than 370-mile range.
