Tesla Negotiating Lease for Massive Industrial Building Outside Seattle

New rumors suggests that Tesla is preparing to take over a new large industrial building that is currently being completed in Washington.

The new building is currently being built by leading real estate investment management firm, Black Creek Group, in Lakewood, Washington. About 40 minutes outside of Seattle.  It consists of two large buildings, the first being a 470,000 square-foot building, and the second, a 206,000 square-foot building.

The larger building of the two has already been leased by Amazon, while the second building is rumored to soon be taken on by the California-based EV startup.

According to Puget Sound Business Journal : “Denver-based Black Creek Group on Monday said it pre-leased a 470,000 square-foot building at its two-building Lakewood Logistics Center II campus to “a leading e-commerce provider,” and Amazon.com Inc. confirmed it is the tenant, saying the facility will employ hundreds of people. Real estate industry sources said Tesla Inc. is negotiating a lease for the other building, which is about 206,000 square feet. The center is at 14802 Spring St. SW.”

Black Creek expects to complete and relinquish ownership of the properties to the new lessees in Q3 2021.

Tesla currently operates 7 different stores in the Seattle area as well as several offices in the region. However, this is the first industrial building located in the area and considering its massive size, it will most likely be used as a warehouse instead of an office/store. Some may even think the building, which covers close to 5 acres, is too large for a deliver center. However, the automaker has been looking into larger properties to house its delivery centers recently.
