Earlier this year, Lordstown unveiled the Endurance electric pick-up with pre-orders available for just a $100 deposit. Now, the company is claiming to have received around 50,000 reservations from commercial fleets that average around 500 vehicles.
“Lordstown Motors has received approximately 50,000 non-binding production reservations from commercial fleets for its Lordstown Endurance all-electric pickup truck, with an average order size of approximately 500 vehicles per fleet. This figure does not capture interest the company has received from organizations that are not in position to be able to place pre-orders, such as federal, state and municipal governments, and military fleets. Deliveries of the Lordstown Endurance are expected to begin in September 2021, with full production ramping up throughout 2022.”
The Lordstown Endurance comes with a range “over 250 miles” and a starting price of $52,500. The electric pick-up is the first commercial vehicle to feature 4 in-wheel hub motors which significantly reduces the number of moving parts and improves control of the vehicle. In addition, the fewer moving parts leads to fewer maintenance cost.
Production of the Endurance will take place at Lordstown Motors‘ manufacturing facilities in Ohio and, according to the company, remains on track to begin production in September 2021
