First Nissan Ariya Production Units Arrive in Europe

According to Nissan, “a few” early production units of its new electric car, the Ariya, have arrived in Europe. The new electric crossover is scheduled for market launch in 2021.

The Japanese automaker revealed that the first Ariya units will be used for testing purposed while others will be used as show cars “to increase the excitement and interest of customers in the region.”

Chief Marketing Manager of Electric Passenger Cars of Nissan Europe, Helen Perry stated: “It is with great pleasure we see the Ariya prototypes arriving in Europe. These versions will be used as show cars and some are also destined for testing purposes at Nissan grounds.”  Perry added “We can see how beautiful this car looks and we really can’t wait to share more details in the upcoming months”

Sales for the Ariya are expected to start in the second half of 2021 and there will be a total of five versions of the car in Europe. It will sit on the new CMF-EV platform that was developed for the whole Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance and will come to the market with up to 300 miles of driving range. It will also come equipped driver-assistance features, infotainment tech, and convenience items that should help it compete with top names such as the Tesla Model Y and Hyundai Kona Electric.
