Today FIAT has presented the complete range of the new electric 500, including a third body that adds to the already well-known Coupé and Cabrio: the 500 3 + 1, equipped with a second small door and reverse-opening on the right side that will improve access to the rear seats of the iconic Italian urban segment A.
The 3 + 1 maintains the Coupé and Cabrio’s exterior dimensions, while the weight only increases by 30 kg compared to the other versions. The tiny door can only be opened and closed when the front is already open. Like its range brothers, the 500 3 + 1 will be available with a special launch edition, “La Prima,” offered in three colors (Rose Gold, Glacier Blue, and Onyx Black).
This limited edition will feature-rich standard equipment, including full LED headlights, 17-inch wheels, various chrome details on the bodywork, eco-leather dashboard and upholstery, six-way adjustable seats, floor mats, Uconnect 5 infotainment system with display 10.25-inch touch screen, DAB radio, Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, smartphone charger, 7-inch digital instrumentation, climate control, electrochromic interior rearview mirror, light and glare sensors, electric parking brake, parking sensors with vision 360º, and a high-resolution rearview camera with dynamic grid.
In terms of safety, the model will not be left behind either, with an arsenal of aids never before seen in its segment: intelligent adaptive cruise control (iACC) and lane centering (that is, autonomous driving level 2, a first in its category), traffic sign recognition, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist recognition, intelligent speed assist, lane control, blind spot sensor, and emergency call.
On the other hand, FIAT has presented the three standard finishes with which the new 500 will be sold: the accessible ACTION, the intermediate PASSION, and the top-of-the-range ICON. The 500 ACTION will have a 95 hp (70 kW) electric motor, which will allow it to do 0-60mph in 9.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 84mph. Its 23.8 kWh capacity battery will give it an approved autonomy of 111 miles.
The 500 ACTION will incorporate standard equipment such as the driver’s sleepiness detector, automatic emergency braking with recognition of cyclists and pedestrians, lane-keeping assistant, traffic sign recognition, 15-inch wheels, halogen headlights, fabric upholstery, 7-inch digital instrumentation, KeylessGo hands-free starter, and electric handbrake.
