First Images of Genesis eGV70

The GV70 will have a 100% electric version baptized as eGV70, which will reach the European market after the thermal variants. This vehicle will become one of the first Genesis electric cars together with the eG80 (the electric brother of the G80, called to stand up to the Tesla Model S) and the JW EV (which, instead of being derived from a thermal model, will make use of the E-GMP electrical modular platform).

The company has just released the first official images of the GV70, still covered in dense camouflage. Despite this, some of its features can already be distinguished: it will keep the acceptable double headlights that the rest of the brand’s models also wear and the huge corporate hexagonal grille (which will be faired in the electric version).

The vehicle’s side is more dynamic than that of the GV80, with a distinctive third window that adds some fluidity to the sideline. Beyond the aforementioned blind grille, the eGV70 will differentiate itself from its thermal brother employing specific bumpers, aerodynamically designed wheels, and the elimination of tailpipes.

Both the GV70 and eGV70 have been undergoing testing in South Korea for some time, with their world debut scheduled for imminent. Although there is no defined date of commercialization in the US and Europe, some rumors suggest that the arrival of the thermal GV70 could occur throughout 2021, while the eGV70 would be delayed until 2022.

The Genesis eGV70 will have to face numerous electric D-SUVs within the premium sector: the Audi Q4 e-Tron, the BMW iX3, the Jaguar I-Pace, the Mercedes-Benz EQB, and EQC, the Tesla Model Y. In front of them, the Genesis will bring a unique design and the well-known constructive rigor of Korean vehicles. In the mechanical section, it is expected to have versions equipped with all-wheel drive and high-capacity batteries.
