This Will Be the Next FIAT Panda: An Economical Electric Utility

Fiat

Soon Fiat plans the arrival of the fourth generation of the Panda. A model currently located in segment A (urban), but will grow significantly in its next incarnation. Many brands are considering leaving segment A in the medium term due to their low profitability. FIAT currently dominates this niche in the market thanks to the success of its 500 and Panda models. However, the Italian brand has decided to leave this sector exclusively at 500, upgrading the Panda.

This has been confirmed by the president of the FIAT brand, Olivier François, who states that despite its larger size at Panda, it will maintain its minimalist approach and economic orientation. The aesthetic of the model will be inspired by the Centoventi Concept. A prototype presented last year that was based on the original Panda from the 80s.

The new Panda will be a fully electric utility (which leads us to think that the current model will live with it for a time) based on the platform of the new electric 500. However, it is highly likely that its technical characteristics (performance, autonomy, etc.) are one step below, making it a more economical and practical alternative to the 500.

One of the most striking features of the model will be its high degree of customization, as FIAT is expected to allow both the exterior and interior to be decorated to suit the client. However, the high level of modularity exhibited by the Centoventi Concept is unlikely to remain in the production model.

Although it does not yet have an official arrival date, the new Panda may be launched in 2023. Possibly the vehicle will be manufactured in Turin (Italy) together with the electric 500. Like other manufacturers such as PSA, Renault, or Volkswagen, FIAT is focusing the production of its electric cars in its country of origin.
