The first KIA electric car based on the new Hyundai group’s modular electric platform will be the production version of the Imagine by KIA prototype, presented last year.
The Imagine by KIA will be not only the first dedicated electric car of the Hyundai group but also the first to benefit from the alliance with the Croatian manufacturer Rimac, specialized in the development of electric hypercars. Thanks to Rimac, the Imagine by KIA will feature an 800-volt electrical system like the one already seen in the Porsche Taycan.
Imagine by KIA will have an estimated autonomy of about 500 km and will be able to access powers of 350 kW when charging. The production version of the Imagine by KIA will be presented in early 2021, and that same year its sales will begin. KIA expects that by 2023-2024 its electric cars will already give benefits, something that will help the company achieve price parity between its thermal vehicles (gasoline and diesel) and electric vehicles, which at the moment remain more expensive than their combustion equivalents.
