Mercedes-Benz Officially Shows the First Images of the EQS Production Prototype

The EQS will be a sedan of the F segment equivalent to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. However, it will be differentiated from its similar by the use of a specific platform that will allow it to take full advantage of its 100% electric model condition. These include greater distance between shafts, trimmed overhangs, a much shorter hood, a wider cabin, etc. This vehicle will directly rival the future Audi A9 e-Tron, BMW i7, and Jaguar XJ electric.

The launch of this ambitious model is planned for the year 2021, and will be in charge of releasing a new dedicated electric modular platform (the EQA, EQB, EQC and EQV respectively use the platforms of the GLA, GLB, GLC and Class V conveniently adapted ). Besides, the model will show off the Mercedes-Benz design language at its best, with a slightly arched sideline.

The prototype has a power of 469 hp (350 kW) and 760 Nm of torque, which allows it to do 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 200 km/h. Its battery pack has more than 100 kWh capacity, which gives it a range of about 700 km per charge. It can charge 350 kW of direct current power thanks to its 800-volt electrical system as well.

Mercedes-Benz has not yet decided whether the definitive model will retain this characteristic or if it will comply with 400 volts, although it has made it clear that it can access very high load powers.
