New Fisker Ocean SUV With a Price Tag of $37,499

Fisker has just revealed its first production car since the spoiled Karma plug-in hybrid from a decade ago: the Ocean electric SUV presented on the occasion of the CES in Las Vegas. This model will rival the Tesla Model Y, and like the latter, it will have a reasonably attractive starting price for a car of its kind, from $37,499.

Also, it will be offered under a flexible leasing contract for $379 per month with maintenance included (the maximum annual mileage will be about 48,000 km, a very high figure). The model can now be booked through a refundable deposit of $250. The first deliveries of the Ocean will take place at the end of 2021.

The new Fisker SUV has a cleaner exterior design than was expected in teasers. Inside we find a touch screen and a shortcut bar from which the fan speed, temperature, starting, and the volume will be controlled. The cabin is created from “vegan” and recycled materials.

The SUV will also have two front radars that will be used in an autonomous driving system, although Fisker will not give more details of the system until later. As for the benefits, the most capable variant can do 0 to 60 miles per hour (0-96.6 km/h) in just 2.9 seconds. It will be available in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions.

The vehicle will have a battery of 80 kWh capacity, which should allow it to reach a real autonomy of about 480 km per charge (non-definitive figure). The sunroof of the vehicle, a solution from the old Karma, will allow adding about 1,600 km of autonomy annually. It is expected that the car can generate almost 5 km of extra range per day with it.

As a curious point, we find the California Mode function, which causes the sunroof to open and all the windows and the glass of the gate to be lowered, which makes this SUV of segment D a kind of convertible.
