Tesla’s “Premium Connectivity” for $9.99 a Month

Tesla’s free internet service came with the first Model S in 2012, and there was no indication of a change in it. Back in 2014, the automaker clarified that the free internet connection would last for four years.

Last year, Tesla introduced news tiers of connectivity, such as the “Standard Connectivity,” offering basic maps & navigation, music & media over Bluetooth®, and software updates over Wi-Fi. “Premium Connectivity” offers satellite-view maps with live traffic visualization, in-car streaming music and media, an internet browser (for Model S and Model X), and over-the-air software updates via Wi-Fi and cellular, did not charge any owner until today.

All cars sold before July 2018 have the “Premium Connectivity” included for free for the lifetime of the car (except for the base versions of the Model 3).
