To build the Gigafactory 4, Tesla will cut down a part of a forest near Berlin, Germany. Interestingly enough, the announcement comes just as Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, helped plant 1 million trees with a YouTuber project.
The Gigafactory is planned to occupy a 300-hectare plot of an industrial park, house to a few other companies, located an hour away from the German capital. But the project may be delayed because of the deforestation close to a natural reserve.
Ten years ago, BMW planned to plant in the same plot of land that Tesla wants now, but the pushback from the media led the German automaker to build a factory in Leipzig instead. What would Tesla do if the deforestation is to manufacture environmentally-friendly electric vehicles?
