Rivian Lineup: A Look at The Most Anticipated EVs of 2020 and 2021

The trucks by Rivian have been getting more and more famous in the electric vehicle scenario. The surprising fact is that the automaker hasn’t even put out the EVs yet. Still, people seem to be interested in every reveal by RJ Scaringe’s company.

At the time this article is being written, Rivian officially announced an electric truck, the R1T, and an electric SUV, the R1S. Both cars are still in development. What is also known about Rivian is that, after a deal with Amazon (that invested heavily on the automaker), 100,000 electric vans will be made with the delivery happening between 2021 and 2024.

Now, it is rumored that the carmaker has plans to work on a third EV, which will be a rally car. Rivian forums even tried to work on a possible concept, but nothing is confirmed yet.

The Next Avenue will list the whole lineup of cars on this article.

R1T

The electric truck seems the most fun of the vehicles so far. With three different battery configurations (105 kWh; 135kWh; 180kWh), the truck can travel three different ranges depending on the battery pack. They go between 230, 300, and 400 miles. Its acceleration is quite impressive, going from 0-100mph in less than 8 seconds.

Another impressive specification of the R1T is the storage space that has a total of 680 L, divided on 350L in the Gear Tunnel (located on the back of the car) and 330L of trunk space. The towing capacity is 11,000lbs.

When it comes to price, the EV will start at $69,000 with the possibility of reaching $100,000.

R1S

The SUV model of Rivian is only expected to be out on the market in early 2021. This car also has the same battery packs as the R1T, but the top range is approximately 410 miles on a single charge. Cargo space is also of 330L, while the acceleration is 0-100mph in less than 7 seconds. Just like the truck, the SUV can reach a top speed of 125 mph.

Towing is close to 7,700lbs and the price starts at $72,500.

Both of the vehicles listed above feature a series of self-driving technologies that are responsible for making Rivian EVs one of the nicest to drive. Not only that, but they come with other features that are also very appropriate for the public. The adventurous customers that decide to use Rivian will have access to a kitchen camp, such as the one on the on R1T, for example.

Amazon Vans

The information on the vans that the automaker will create for Amazon was not revealed. So far, what we know is that around 100,000 of the vehicles were ordered. They are supposed to be already in use between 2021 and 2024.

This is part of Amazon’s plans to switch to cleaner mobility, especially when it comes to one of the essential activities by the company: the deliveries. Seeing the new tendency of the world, Amazon is moving in the right direction. Choosing Rivian is also not random, since they invested $700 million on RJ Scaringe’s automaker early this year, 2019.

Only a concept image of what the EV could look like was revealed.

Rally Car

After a statement by the CEO of Rivian, several enthusiasts tried to work on what they might think they will see when the carmaker unveils its third electric vehicle.

This is what RJ said that inspired people:

“The third vehicle will have a smaller wheelbase [than the R1S SUV] and will be the Rivian interpretation of a rally car with a lot of ground clearance. (…) [Rivian] has a combination of on and off-road performance and a level of functionality that’s unique in its space”.

We will remember that all of it is still in the field of speculation.
