BYTON Reveals its First Electric Vehicle at The Frankfurt Motor Show

The Chinese carmaker BYTON showed pictures of the M-Byte SUV, which will open for reservations and pre-orders in 2020.

The Frankfurt Motor Show was the place chosen for the official unveiling of the new Chinese EV. It has been in development since before 2017. The company has its own plant located in the Nanjing Economic and Technological Development Zone in Jiangsu Province, China. The unit counts with an investment of $1.5 billion.

BYTON’s Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Daniel Kirchert, talked about the revealing of the car:

“Today’s unveiling of the BYTON M-Byte also shows the effort paying off for the team, which has worked relentlessly on the car for over two years. Within that short amount of time, together we have taken a smart electric car from an initial idea on a white sheet of paper to series production readiness, while also building a coherent infrastructure with locations on three continents and an efficient Industry 4.0 production facility in China. We can rightfully be proud of this.”

The specs of the vehicle comes with 2 different models of battery packs, a 72 kWh and a 95 kWh. The top range seen from the car is approximately 270 miles. The motor provides a peak output of 220kW.

BYTON’s M-Byte will have a price of around $49,000 and can even count with some subside from the government.
