Lucid Motors to built factory in Arizona next year, production in 2018 




Lucid Motors announced this morning that Casa Grande, Arizona will be the home of its electric vehicle factory.

The announcement was made in Phoenix and the governor of Arizona, Doug Ducey, was present at the time. He said that Arizona’s low corporate tax and few regulations was key for the deal. They are expecting to break ground in 2017 and to start car production in the following year.

This plant should bring more than 2,000 jobs, said Brian Barron, Director of Global Manufacturing. Sonora, a Mexican state was in this deal as well. Governor Claudia Pavlovich, Arellano said that her state will be an key part of Lucid’s supply chain for the new factory.

Lucid also showed two prototypes at this event. It still has a lot of mystery around the new cars, but they gave the press a little more information. Now we know that a vehicle with the codename ‘Activus’ is a 900hp electric luxury sedan with a power train with 87kWh.
